Hi...

Today in class we blogged, and worked on flash.  In flash we worked on tracing a unicorn...I had to start over a couple times and it's taking me forever, but it's easy nonetheless...

Hi...

Today in Globaloria we gave a presentation of a description of our game...and now we have to answer these questions about our game...
  • WHO are you designing your game for?
This game doesn't really have a set age for a player...anyone who can get onto the computer and find the game can play...you have to be able remember things and put what you learn to use...you don't have to have any knowledge, because at the beginning of the game we are going to give a brief description about the oil spill and everything going on with that...
  • WHAT will your game teach the player about your topic?
Our game is going to teach the player about the BP oil spill...it's going to brief them on how the oil spill is effecting the animals around it...throughout the game we are going to list facts and then quiz them so they can get to each of the different levels...
  • WHERE does your game happen?
The game is going to basically be in the ocean...we are not sure if we are going to use a boat in the game or if it is just going to be under the water...

This setting is going to teach the players what types of habitats the oil spill is destroying, and what types of animals belong to those habitats...
  • HOW does your game world teach the player about your topic?
It teaches the player about the habitats the oil spill is destroying...
  • What happens in the world that helps the player learn?
You are going to have to clean up all the oil, and we were thinking about putting a couple animals caught in the oil so that you have to rescue them...
  • How does the player use what they learned to make something happen in the game?
The player is going to be asked a question/s at the end of each level...
  • WHY is a game a better way of understanding your topic than a quiz?
The game let's the player go in and play and make them think they are doing something about the oil spill...when really they are just learning about it like they would on a quiz...

Hi...

Today I didn't do much in Globaloria...I'm kind of confused, because I didn't know we had to be updating things on a project page!!!  So now I have to go back and retrace all my steps to update it...I basically just helped someone get caught up on the Mini Game Tutorial today since I'm already done with mine...hopefully I get back on track and get everything caught up...

Hello

Today in Globaloria I finished the Mini Game Tutorial...it wasn't that hard, but I think there are still a few "mess-ups" in there lol...we haven't been doing much on our games...I guess you could say right now we're just getting a "feel" for how to actually make a game haha =D

Hi...

We didn't have class the 12th...so I'm blogging from today...we worked on the Globaloria Mini Game Tutorial and commented on people's blogs...I was understanding how to do everything on the tutorial and then I messed up one part and screwed up the whole thing...but I worked on it and I almost have it working again =)

Up to date =D

Finally I can blog about what actually happened today...
Today in Globaloria we had to work on the Globaloria Mini Game Tutorial...I did that and I caught up on all of my blogs...hopefully I'll be able to stay on task and keep up with everything that we're supposed to be doing in this class...

Hello...

September 30, 2010...

On September 30th we had to blog about whether or not we play games in our free time, which ones we like to play, why do we like to play them, and more about our topic for our game.
I do like to play games in my free time preferrably "Sims", any version of "Sims".  I love to play "Sims", because you get to control a character based on real life.  My game topic isn't that similar to the topic of "Sims".  It is, because they both deal with stuff that really happens, and it isn't, because my game topic deals with the social issues of the community and well that is real and not something you can fix in a game...

Hey...

September 28, 2010...

On September 28th I didn't get to blog, because I couldn't get to a computer.  However, when I got to a computer I made up for it by commenting on other peoples' blogs.  Now we are doing our own mini games and we have to figure out how to do different things on the Globaloria Mini Game Tutorial.   It's not that hard, and they give you a list of directions of everything you're supposed to do.  =}

Hi...

September 23, 2010

I'm a bit behind on my blogs...on September 23rd we were supposed to blog about our game topic and why researching links will help us with our game topic.  My teams' topic is on the social issues of the community.  I think researching the topic will help me to get a better understanding of what exactly my game should include.  It will give me an in depth look at what I should be doing to make my game factual, but understandable.  I haven't researched it a whole lot yet though =D

Hello =)

In Globaloria class we had a team member picked for us and together we are supposed to make a game.  I don't want my game to be easy at all.  I would like for my game to be about strategy.  People should think when trying to play a game; you shouldn't be able to finish it in 5 minutes.  Games should be about strategy and the way you think things through.  Well that's it for now...thanks for visiting my blog  =)

Hey...

Hi!!!  Thanks for visiting my blog ;)
Today we are supposed to talk about why it you should protect your privacy on the internet.  People show and reveal way to much information about themselves on the internet.   It is so easy for people to steal your identity, credit card numbers, and other personal information.  People can even get your email addresses and passwords just by sending you a link and you clicking on it.   Also, people can send you viruses through links and they can shut down your whole "system" just by you clicking on them.  If you don't know the person, be careful what you do, if they send you something with links and no information about themselves or the link then don't open it!  We are careless about what we put on the internet, because we think it couldn't happen to us; well, guess what it has happened before and to way to many people!   That's all I have to say for now, but we'll be back in class on Tuesday  =)

Hello...

I'm Desiree and this is my very first blog!!!  I have no idea what to write about...  In globaloria class I hope to get better at doing stuff on the web.  I'm not sure what type of game I want to make yet, but I know I would want it to be challenging and not one of those little games you can finish in 5 minutes.  I hope to get better at blogging, because everyone does it these days.  Uh that's it for now, but we have to blog again on Thursday  ;)
